How can counselling help me?
Counselling helps you see your problems and issues from a different perspective. Working with a counsellor gives you the chance to explore your situation and think about how you can change your negative thoughts and feelings for the better. It also gives you a chance to explore complex or difficult issues in a safe and confidential environment.
Are our sessions confidential?
Everything you tell me is said in confidence and I believe this to be the foundation of counselling. I will only breach this confidence if an unlawful situation arises or if I feel that you will be harmful to yourself or others. This area will be explained in further detail
during the 30 minutes consultation.
What if counselling isn't for me?
During your first consultation we can discuss your problems and issues in confidence and make a discussion on the best way forward. If we decide that counselling isn't for you and another form of therapy may benefit you better, I will endeavour to find you a suitable alternative therapist.
What if I need to cancel a session?
If you cancel a session and give a least 24 hours notice there will be no charge. If the notice is less than 24 hours, I will usually need to charge you as I have allocated that time slot to you.
How often do sessions take place?
Sessions usually take place once a week and most sessions last for 50 minutes
Do I need to be referred by my GP?
No, this is not necessary. Anybody can attend counselling without a referral.
How many counselling sessions will I need?
Every client is different and have unique problems and issues, so how long counselling takes will depend on your specific needs. You'll be able to find out more about how we can help you by coming for an initial consultation.
Does having counselling mean admitting failure?
No. Counselling doesn't mean you're admitting failure. It simply means you're willing to work on the negative issues and problems you may have and put in the effort to deal with them. In many cases, counselling means beginning not to fail.
